What side effects can this medication cause?

Possible side effects from docusate include:

stomach ache
cramping
irritated throat (liquid and syrup forms)


Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

a bitter taste or throat irritation
skin rash
diarrhea
mild nausea


If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives)
rectal bleeding
severe abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting
no bowel movement
